Respiratory Therapist (RT) - Qualifications & Requirements Current NBRC credentialing as RRT Active state Respiratory Therapy license as required by assignment location Minimum 1 year of recent Respiratory Therapy experience EPIC and Cerner Experience required Acute care or hospital setting experience preferred Proficiency delivering comprehensive respiratory care across adult (and/or pediatric/neonatal, if applicable) patient populations Strong knowledge of cardiopulmonary anatomy, physiology, and gas exchange principles Experience managing ventilators, non-invasive ventilation (BiPAP/CPAP), oxygen delivery systems, and airway clearance therapies Skilled in performing arterial blood gas (ABG) sampling and interpretation Experience responding to respiratory emergencies, rapid responses, and code situations Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and adjust respiratory care plans Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) and respiratory documentation systems Current BLS certification required ACLS required or preferred at most facilities NRP and/or PALS required for neonatal or pediatric assignments (per facility) Excellent patient care, communication, and critical-thinking skills Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, take call, or float as required Must meet all credentialing, background check, and health screening requirements About FlexCare FlexCare is a top-rated nationwide leader in travel nursing and allied health.
