Job responsibilities include but are not limited to: Independently operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, and aerosol generators, while following specified parameters of treatment. Able to provide physician-prescribed treatments in a routine nature by operating the Intermittent Positive Pressure Breathing (IPPB) Machine, various oxygen devices, nebulizer, and ultrasonic nebulizer, thereby administering prescribed medicinal gases at a specified humidity and various oxygen concentrations to the resident's respiratory system. Following specified orders, performs arterial puncture, and operates a blood gas analyzer. Measures and determines the acid-base balance efficiency of ventilation and metabolism of the respiratory system. Monitors patient's physiological responses to therapy through changes in vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes. Consults with the physician in incidences of adverse reactions. Performs therapy treatments involving chest percussion, postural drainage, and suctioning in order to mobilize secretions and mucus in the lungs and to clear airway blockage in the respiratory system. Utilizes pulmonary function studies to determine volume, distribution, and movement of air in the respiratory system. Routinely rounds, checking the resident's oxygen equipment, replacing humidifiers, as necessary, as well as spot-checking other respiratory therapy equipment on a timely basis.

Qualifications:

Minimum of 2 years with experience providing direct Respiratory Therapy care to multiple patients with Home Health or Hospice Care preferred; previous experience in acute care respiratory unit or Skilled Nursing environment desirable Must be able to work under stress and in emergency situations. Current California Respiratory License credentialed by the NBRC A graduate of an approved Respiratory Therapy program is preferred Must have current Basic Life Support certification Benefits Excellent pay Health Insurance Dental program Vision program Paid time off
