The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in hospital and critical care environments, demonstrating proficiency in airway management, ventilator support, and patient assessment. As a Travel Respiratory Therapist, you will deliver vital respiratory therapies to patients of all ages, including pediatrics and geriatrics, ensuring optimal outcomes through compassionate and precise care. This role offers the opportunity to work in dynamic settings such as Level I and Level II trauma centers, outpatient clinics, and inpatient units, contributing to high-quality patient care on a flexible travel basis. Duties Assess patients' respiratory status by evaluating vital signs, blood gases, and physical examinations to determine appropriate therapy interventions. Administer respiratory treatments including oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and ventilator support tailored to individual patient needs. Manage and monitor ventilators for patients requiring mechanical ventilation, ensuring proper functioning and safety protocols are followed. Perform airway management procedures such as intubation, extubation, and suctioning with precision and adherence to safety standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including physicians specializing in pulmonology, emergency medicine, critical care, and pediatrics—to develop comprehensive treatment plans. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic health records while maintaining compliance with hospital policies. Provide education to patients and their families regarding respiratory therapies, medication administration, and post-discharge care instructions. Adapt quickly to various clinical environments such as ICU, emergency departments, operating rooms, outpatient clinics, and trauma centers while maintaining high standards of care. Qualifications Valid state licensure or certification as a Respiratory Therapist with current credentials in Basic Life Support (BLS) at minimum; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. Extensive hospital experience with a focus on critical care settings including ICU, emergency medicine, or trauma centers. Proven expertise in airway management techniques and ventilator management for diverse patient populations including pediatrics and geriatrics. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology principles, and medical terminology relevant to respiratory therapy. Demonstrated ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments and respond effectively in acute care situations. Experience working within Level I or Level II trauma centers; familiarity with outpatient clinics or inpatient hospital units is advantageous. Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to work independently as well as part of multidisciplinary teams. Prior experience in hospital medicine, emergency medicine, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), OR (Operating Room), or outpatient settings is highly desirable.
