Responsibilities The Pulmonary Procedure Specialist at Northside Hospital regularly performs the duties of the Respiratory Therapist III and assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures, in accordance with the scope of practice as defined by the Georgia Composite Medical Board. The Pulmonary Procedure Specialist serves as a technical resource for respiratory therapists regarding assistance with such procedures. The Pulmonary Procedure Specialist cares for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
All Pulmonary Procedure Specialist III's will perform some or all of the patient care and/or administrative duties listed: Can perform the duties and responsibilities of the Registered Respiratory Therapist III. Assists physicians with all pulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Provides in-service education to staff regarding diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary procedures performed in operative and procedural areas. Maintains inventory of bronchoscopic supplies and accessories. May assist in the training (after competency completed) for designated respiratory therapists to assist pulmonologists and surgeons in the endoscopy/operating room setting with such procedures as transbronchial needle aspirations, argon plasma coagulation, tumor debridement, pulmonary dilatation, pulmonary valve placement, pulmonary stent placement, and robotic bronchoscopy. Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury‑accident to manager. Qualifications
REQUIRED
Must be a graduate of an accredited respiratory care program. Licensed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from Georgia Composite Medical Board in good standing without limitations. Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist Must hold American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Must hold American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Must hold American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
PREFERRED
Bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Experience performing PFT and/or bronchoscopy procedures. Must hold American Heart Association Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) If working in Pulmonary Function Lab, must obtain Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist (CPFT) credential within 12 months of date in job
