Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our multidisciplinary healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive respiratory care to patients across various settings, including inpatient units, emergency departments, intensive care units, and outpatient clinics. Your expertise will support patient recovery, optimize respiratory function, and ensure adherence to best practices in respiratory therapy. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in hospital medicine, critical care, and emergency response, demonstrating a commitment to delivering high-quality patient-centered care.

experience Ability to float to NICU preferred Active Hawaii RN License

36 hours guaranteed | 3 12-hour shifts Duties Assess patients' respiratory status through detailed evaluation of vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and physical examination findings. Develop and implement individualized respiratory therapy plans in collaboration with physicians and healthcare teams. Administer treatments such as oxygen therapy, aerosol medications, and ventilator support to improve patient outcomes. Manage and monitor ventilators and other respiratory equipment within critical care environments, including ICU and PICU settings. Perform airway management procedures, including intubation assistance and suctioning, ensuring patient safety at all times. Conduct patient education on respiratory health, medication administration, and use of medical devices. Respond promptly to emergency situations requiring airway management or advanced respiratory interventions. Maintain accurate documentation of treatments provided, patient responses, and equipment usage in compliance with hospital protocols. Participate in interdisciplinary rounds to coordinate care plans for complex cases involving pulmonology or acute care needs. Ensure adherence to infection control standards and safety procedures during all respiratory interventions. Skills Extensive knowledge of hospital medicine, emergency medicine protocols, and critical care practices. Proficiency in managing ventilators and advanced airway devices within ICU or Level I/II trauma center environments. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to respiratory health. Experience with pediatric (pediatrics) and geriatric (geriatrics) patient populations across inpatient and outpatient settings. Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments focusing on vital signs and respiratory function. Skilled in medication administration related to respiratory therapy treatments. Familiarity with pulmonology principles and acute care procedures within hospital or clinic contexts. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Demonstrated ability to respond swiftly during emergencies involving airway compromise or respiratory distress. Knowledge of Level I trauma center standards and outpatient clinic operations enhances versatility.
