Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Delivers comprehensive respiratory care: Performs routine and advanced therapeutic modalities independently, demonstrating clinical competency in all procedures practiced at Methodist Hospital.

Maintains accurate and timely documentation:

Records all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in accordance with departmental protocols and updates care plans to reflect patient needs. Develops and adjusts patient care plans: Interprets physician orders, evaluates patient conditions, and recommends evidence-based treatments using AARC clinical practice guidelines to optimize outcomes.

Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams:

Communicates effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care and smooth transitions across shifts.

Supports operational continuity and leadership:

Assumes charge responsibilities when needed and performs diagnostic procedures across departments, contributing to seamless hospital operations.

Promotes patient satisfaction and education:

Engages with patients to provide clear, helpful information and supports interdepartmental learning by educating staff on respiratory care practices.

36 or 24 hrs /week: 6:30p-7a, varied schedule, 2 weekends per month requirement and rotating holidays. Eligible for full time benefits!! 24 Hours is full time for this position!!

Salary:

Pay starts at $29.43 an hour and may increase based on work history/experience.

Job Requirements:

Associate's of Science Degree with certificate in Respiratory Care required. Bachelor's of Science Degree with a certificate in Respiratory Care preferred. 3-6 months of on-the-job experience to gain knowledge of hospital policies, procedures and routines required. Registered respiratory therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 18 months of accepting the Advanced Practitioner position required. Licensed by the State of Iowa as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP.IA) required. Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required at time of hire. Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required. Current American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS) Certification preferred for MH Respiratory Therapy, MFH Cardiac Unit and MFH Cardiopulmonary Rehab Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification preferred for MFH Cardiac Unit and MFH Cardiopulmonary Rehab.
