Respiratory Therapy Assistant (Student)

Position Summary:

A Respiratory Therapy Student supports the respiratory care team in providing patient care under the supervision of licensed respiratory therapists and healthcare professionals. The student assists with respiratory procedures, equipment management, patient monitoring, and administrative duties while developing clinical skills required for professional practice. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist respiratory therapists with patient assessments and treatments. Prepare, clean, and maintain respiratory therapy equipment. Set up oxygen delivery systems, aerosol treatments, and other respiratory devices as directed. Monitor patients during respiratory procedures and report changes in condition to supervising staff. Transport respiratory equipment and supplies to patient care areas. Document patient information and treatment activities according to facility policies. Maintain adequate stock of respiratory supplies and equipment. Participate in clinical training, educational activities, and departmental meetings. Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality guidelines. Provide compassionate and professional interactions with patients and families. Qualifications Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or required. Knowledge of respiratory care principles, medical terminology, and patient care practices. Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Time management and organizational skills. Ability to lift, move, and transport equipment as needed. Working Conditions Long Term Care and/or rehabilitation setting. May require standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Exposure to infectious diseases and healthcare environments.

Pay:

$25.00 - $34.00 per hour
