Under general supervision , the limited permit holder is expected to be able to perform all modes of Respiratory care as defined in the department policy and procedure manual. These tasks will include, but are not limited too, delivery of small volume nebulizers, drawing of arterial blood gases, maintaining artificial airways and mechanical ventilation. The therapist must be competent to deliver these therapies to all age groups ranging from perinatal to geriatric. I.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates excellent customer service skills. 2. Appropriately documents all care activity performed and charges in the hospital EMR system 3. Participates in hospital and departmental performance improvement activities 4. Demonstrates competency in utilization and maintenance of arterial blood gas machines. 5. Demonstrates competency in proper set up and utilization of all mechanical ventilators
License/Certification/Education:
Required:
1. Must be enrolled in an AMA approved school of Respiratory Care. 2. Limited Permit Holder in the state of Massachusetts in respiratory care. 3. Certification in basic life support. Unless certification, licensure or registration is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
