00 Join a dedicated respiratory care team in a long-term acute care setting in Jackson, Mississippi, where you will provide advanced, high-acuity care to medically complex patients who require an extended recovery period and focused respiratory support. Jackson, the capital of Mississippi, offers the best of Southern charm with the convenience of city living. The area is known for its rich civil rights history, vibrant blues and jazz scene, museums, and cultural festivals throughout the year. Residents enjoy a variety of local restaurants, galleries, and parks, as well as nearby opportunities for fishing, boating, and outdoor recreation. With a relatively low cost of living, a friendly community atmosphere, and easy access to regional travel, Jackson is an appealing place to live, work, and grow your career. In this LTAC environment, you will work with a diverse and complex patient population, including individuals recovering from respiratory failure, prolonged ventilator dependence, complex pneumonia, COPD exacerbations, neuromuscular respiratory weakness, and multi-system medical conditions. This setting is ideal for respiratory therapists who are passionate about managing higher-acuity cases and seeing the impact of their care over a longer recovery period. Typical responsibilities include comprehensive respiratory assessments, implementation and adjustment of ventilator settings, management of non-invasive ventilation modalities, administration of respiratory medications and therapies, airway clearance techniques, and ongoing tracheostomy care and monitoring. You will participate in ventilator weaning protocols, collaborate in daily interdisciplinary rounds, and contribute to individualized care plans designed to help patients progress toward lower levels of care or home. A typical day involves caring for a manageable number of high-acuity patients, allowing you to focus on clinical detail and patient progress rather than rapid turnover. You will partner closely with physicians, nurses, physical and occupational therapists, speech therapists, case management, and other specialists to support complex medical, respiratory, and rehabilitation needs. You will be expected to document care accurately in the electronic medical record, participate in safety and quality initiatives, and support evidence-based respiratory practices. Shifts generally include a mix of day or night options depending on department needs, with full-time hours designed to support continuity of care and collaboration across disciplines. You will work in a setting designed for long-term acute care, with monitored beds, advanced respiratory equipment, and a team familiar with managing chronic and critical respiratory conditions over extended stays. This role is well suited for a respiratory therapist who enjoys high-acuity care, values close collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and wants to build expertise in ventilator management and long-term respiratory support. It offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patients and families while living in an engaging, welcoming city with strong cultural, historical, and recreational offerings.
