Job Description

Overview Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation is seeking a skilled and compassionate Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) to support residents with complex respiratory needs in our skilled nursing facility. This role is essential in delivering high-quality respiratory care, supporting clinical teams, and ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations. Position Summary The Respiratory Therapist (CRT or RRT) provides comprehensive respiratory care services to residents in a skilled nursing and post-acute care setting. This position is responsible for assessment, treatment, monitoring, and education related to respiratory conditions, therapies, and equipment. The Respiratory Therapist works collaboratively with nursing, providers, therapy, and interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal respiratory function, comfort, and safety. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Respiratory Care Perform respiratory assessments and ongoing monitoring of residents with acute and chronic respiratory conditions. Administer and monitor prescribed respiratory treatments including nebulizers, inhalers, oxygen therapy, CPAP/BiPAP, and other modalities as ordered. Assess, manage, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment including oxygen concentrators, tanks, suction equipment, and pulse oximetry. Monitor oxygen saturation, respiratory status, and response to treatment; promptly report changes in condition to nursing and providers. Assist with airway clearance techniques and secretion management as appropriate. Collaboration & Care Planning Participate in interdisciplinary care planning and care conferences. Provide respiratory-related recommendations to providers and nursing staff. Support transitions of care, including admissions, readmissions, and discharges involving respiratory needs. Education & Training Educate residents and families on respiratory conditions, treatments, equipment use, and safety. Provide in-service education to nursing staff related to respiratory care, oxygen safety, and equipment use. Support staff competency related to respiratory treatments and monitoring. Compliance & Safety Ensure all respiratory care is provided in compliance with physician orders, facility policies, and state and federal regulations. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the medical record. Follow infection prevention, oxygen safety, and emergency response protocols. Assist with survey readiness and audits related to respiratory services. Qualifications Required Current Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential in good standing. Licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Montana. Ability to work collaboratively within a skilled nursing or post-acute care setting. Strong assessment, communication, and documentation skills. Preferred Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, or post-acute care . Familiarity with oxygen management, CPAP/BiPAP, and chronic respiratory conditions. Experience with electronic medical records. Skills & Abilities Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail. Ability to educate and support residents, families, and staff. Ability to respond calmly and effectively to changes in condition or emergencies. Team-oriented approach with a focus on quality and safety. Work Environment & Physical Requirements Clinical environment including resident rooms, therapy areas, and nursing units. Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry respiratory equipment as needed. May require flexible scheduling to meet resident needs.
