DHCIND Minimum Qualifications:
Degree:
Associates Degree.Education:
Graduate from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).Certification:
Possess certification as Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), CurrentBLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP.
Experience:
6 months of experience as a Neonatal Respiratory Therapist after graduation.Core Duties:
Perform complex respiratory procedures with minimal supervision. Participate with physicians, nurses and other staff in planning respiratory treatment, with great reliance on the individual's knowledge of the equipment. Provide emergency or critical respiratory care. Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including vital signs, oxygenation status, and respiratory function, specifically focusing on neonatal and pediatric populations. Administer and monitor respiratory therapies such as ventilator management, airway clearance techniques, and oxygen therapy tailored to neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) patients. Manage ventilator settings and troubleshoot equipment issues to ensure safe and effective respiratory support. Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to develop individualized care plans for critically ill neonates and children. Perform airway management procedures including intubation, suctioning, and extubation while adhering to strict safety protocols. Maintain detailed documentation of patient progress, interventions performed, and responses to therapy in accordance with hospital policies. Stay current with advances in pulmonology, physiology knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to critical care and neonatal medicine. Participate in emergency response situations within the hospital or trauma center environment, providing expert respiratory support during acute events.Benefits:
