Job Description

Category Respiratory Therapist Job Type Contract Work as a valued member of a specialized Respiratory Care team providing patient-focused care in a high-acuity environment. This contract opportunity involves supporting a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center with 247 licensed beds and additional certifications as a Chest Pain and Stroke Center, offering a dynamic and collaborative workplace.
Schedule:
12-hour night shifts: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM Every other weekend required No on-call responsibilities Expect to work 75% of holidays Schedule cycle repeats every 6 weeks
Qualifications:
Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapy (CRT) with active North Carolina licensure Minimum 2 years of professional respiratory therapy experience, including work with
IPPV/NIPPV
ventilator systems Experience with neonate, pediatric, and adult patient populations across multiple hospital departments (ED, PICU, Peds CVICU, Peds PCU, General Medicine) Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP Comfort using EPIC EMR and the ability to adapt to unit-specific technology Resourceful and collaborative, ready to partner with respiratory leadership and other clinical teams
Responsibilities:
Deliver comprehensive respiratory care for a broad range of patients, with the primary focus on neonatal and pediatric cases, and adult patients as needed Adhere to unit standards and participate in orientation/training as required (2-day departmental, plus facility orientation) Maintain high standards in ventilator management and related respiratory interventions Consistently uphold patient safety and contribute to ongoing team education and process improvements Adhere to shift, holiday, and weekend scheduling commitments Remain within the home facility without being floated elsewhere Benefits include free on-site parking and supportive department leadership.
