Duties Assess patient respiratory status through vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and comprehensive physical examinations. Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as nebulizers, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications according to physician orders. Manage ventilator settings and monitor patients on mechanical ventilation in ICU, PICU, or emergency settings. Perform airway management procedures including intubation, extubation, and suctioning for critically ill or trauma patients. Conduct patient education on respiratory conditions, medication use, and breathing exercises to promote recovery and self-care. Collaborate with medical teams to evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Maintain accurate documentation of treatments administered, patient responses, and vital signs in compliance with hospital protocols. Requirements Valid licensure as a Respiratory Therapist from an accredited agency or licensing board. Proven experience in hospital medicine, critical care environments such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers, or outpatient clinics. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology, and medical terminology related to respiratory health. Hands-on experience with ventilator management, airway procedures, and emergency response protocols like Basic Life Support (BLS). Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and respond effectively in high-pressure situations such as emergency medicine or trauma cases. Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care settings across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
