Albany, NY Pay rate: $55-$60/hr Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Respiratory Therapist, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional respiratory care to patients across diverse clinical settings. Your expertise will support patients with breathing difficulties, ensuring optimal oxygenation and ventilation. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in fast-paced environments, including critical care units, emergency departments, and outpatient clinics. You will collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized respiratory treatment plans, utilizing advanced equipment and techniques to improve patient outcomes. Your dedication will make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients ranging from pediatrics to geriatrics. Duties Assess patient respiratory status through vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and comprehensive physical examinations. Administer respiratory therapy treatments such as nebulizers, oxygen therapy, and aerosol medications according to physician orders. Manage ventilator settings and monitor patients on mechanical ventilation in ICU, PICU, or emergency settings. Perform airway management procedures including intubation, extubation, and suctioning for critically ill or trauma patients. Conduct patient education on respiratory conditions, medication use, and breathing exercises to promote recovery and self-care. Collaborate with medical teams to evaluate patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Maintain accurate documentation of treatments administered, patient responses, and vital signs in compliance with hospital protocols. Requirements Valid licensure as a Respiratory Therapist from an accredited agency or licensing board. Proven experience in hospital medicine, critical care environments such as ICU or Level I/II trauma centers, or outpatient clinics. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pulmonology, and medical terminology related to respiratory health. Hands-on experience with ventilator management, airway procedures, and emergency response protocols like Basic Life Support (BLS). Ability to perform thorough patient assessments and respond effectively in high-pressure situations such as emergency medicine or trauma cases. Familiarity with inpatient and outpatient care settings across diverse populations including pediatrics and geriatrics.
