RRT-REGISTERED RESPIRATORY THERAPIST

Position Summary:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will perform and evaluate diagnostic and therapeutic clinical procedures in accordance with physician orders.
Qualifications:
Education:
Associate degree (AD) in Respiratory Therapy required. Bachelor's Degree (BS) in Respiratory Therapy preferred. Experience Minimum six (6) months of clinical experience following graduation from a respiratory care program required. Two (2) years post-graduate respiratory care experience preferred. Licensure/Certification/Registration Current License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the state of South Carolina required. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required OR Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required, be RRT eligible and obtain Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by the National Association for Respiratory Care (NBRC) within 1 year of employment. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Greet all patients and their apanying family members when applicable and provide exemplary customer service. Responsible for performing procedures including but not limited; endotracheal intubation, extubations, tracheotomy tube changes, capnography monitoring. Other duties include evaluating appropriateness of medical orders, transporting patients requiring mechanical ventilation or airway protection, assuring safe operations of devices in the MRI, and assisting with Bronchoscopy. Responsible for the orientation and training of Certified Respiratory Therapist. Proficient in the application of mechanical ventilator modalities, Non-Invasive Positive Pressure Ventilation (NPPV); Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) and Bi-Level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP). Work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, physicians, and department heads. Effectively utilize stronganizational skills. Consistently display effective verbalmunication skills. Proficient understanding and use of technology/PC skills required. Regularly exercise independent judgement.
