Position Summary:
Become an integral member of our multidisciplinary care team at UTMCK and be responsible for neonatal therapeutic equipment and processes including: Respond to all high risk deliveries including preterm infants, infants with serious congenital defects, or infants in need of respiratory assistance upon delivery Collaborate with the entire NICU medical team to care for infants on High Flow nasal cannula, CPAP, or mechanical ventilation (invasive or non-invasive); including conventional and high-frequency Manage with autonomy both Acute and Chronic vent wean protocols through interpretation of blood gas acquisition via cbg, vbg, or abg Perform intubations within the unit, in the OR, and at high risk deliveries Administer Surfactant within the OR at delivery or within the unit Administer Nitric oxide and manage with our Nitric Oxide Wean protocol Be a member of the unique newest addition of our Small Baby group specializing in the care of infants 22-27 weeks and receive extensive training specific to their needs Accompany all internal transports for patients on non-invasive and or invasive respiratory support Partner with UT Lifestar and become a member of our transport team to provide high quality patient care in the air to neonatal patients in need within our region Become a member of our team and be recognized as one of the highly skilled practitioners with a great deal of autonomy within the NICU and be viewed as a valuable asset to our multidisciplinary team at UTMCK
Position Qualification:
Associates degree (AA) or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Tennessee Respiratory Care Therapist licensure; Respiratory Therapist registration from National Board of Respiratory care.
