Speech Pathologist II-Under the general clinical direction of the Medical Director or designee, and direct supervision of Medical Services the Speech Pathologist II, following all established guidelines, policy and procedure, and rules and regulations, is a senior level employee, who plans, organizes, and supervises speech therapy clinics for individuals and coordinates therapy or instructional programs for individuals or level of care employees. Primary care services include planning, organizing, and directing screening and evaluation of voice, language, swallowing, speech and language disability; providing individual and group speech therapy to individuals; conducting in¬ service training for lay and professional workers in recognition and treatment of speech, voice, and language disabilities; attending clinics and maintaining notes; developing and directing research projects; supervising the work of a small staff of Speech Pathologists I and Speech Pathologist License Applicants and performing other duties as required.   • Administers diagnostic tests to determine the nature and extent of speech disorders; provides individual and group communication services to individuals ; prepares reports and summaries on diagnosis, prognosis, progress, and recommendations for assigned cases; confers with teachers, parents, and employees regarding progress and treatment; trains parents and employees in therapeutic procedures and methods of motivating individuals toward communication strategies.
Responsible for maintaining a current license. This position is not eligible for telework, this position is in person only. Examination Information Interested individuals must take and pass the Speech Pathologist II examination to obtain list eligibility. (Includes possession of a Master's Degree in Speech Pathology or deemed equivalent as defined by the Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee.) (Applicants who are in the process of securing approval of their qualifications by the Speech Pathology and Audiology Examining Committee will be admitted to the examination but they must meet all the legal requirements in order to be eligible for appointment.) and Either I One year of experience performing the duties of a Speech Pathologist I or Speech Pathologist I, Departments of Mental Health and Developmental Services, in California state service. Or II Two years of experience in the diagnosis and correction of speech disorders. (Possession of an earned doctorate in speech pathology, speech correction, or a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience.) Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential
