Speech Therapist (Traveling)
PRIMARY FUNCTION
To provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for individuals handicapped by impairments of language, speech and/or hearing, in accord with professional standards.
DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE TO
Director of Intervention Services and Alternative Programs
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Evaluation, assessment and therapy which are related primarily to the communication handicaps of the individual child which effect his educational achievement and personal adjustment. Maintain all responsibilities of case manager for students. Participate as a CORE Team member. 2. Develops standards of performance for children enrolled in language, speech, autism, hearing impaired, SDC and resource programs a. Establishes screening procedures and standards of progress. b. Creates a program/environment favorable to learning and personal growth. c. Establishes policies and procedures for maintaining proper pupil control in the speech environment. 3. For pupils with speech and/or language handicaps: a. Screens them on an organized basis. b. Diagnoses those identified and determines appropriate placement. c. Administers therapies to children so selected and motivates them to minimize their speech and/or language handicaps in accordance with each pupil's ability. d. Coordinates activities with parents as appropriate. e. Confers and cooperates with teachers and other professional and lay personnel. 4.
For pupils with hearing handicaps:
a. Furnishes to those hard-of-hearing pupils who are admitted training in: 1. Effective use of Residual hearing acuity. 2. Skillful use of amplified sound. 3. Skills of speech-reading. b. Consults with those involved with hard-of-hearing children regarding educational and personal problems concomitant with hearing losses. 5. Evaluates and makes periodic reports of the attainment of professional goals of each language, speech and/or hearing impaired child to parents and appropriate school personnel.

Coordinates the program for language, speech and/or hearing handicapped children with the total educational program of their schools. 7. Provides supervision of trained speech aides so that the aides may efficiently provide remedial services to speech and/or language handicapped pupils. 8. Provides a continuing in-service training program for speech aides. 9. Is actively involved in the ongoing development of programs and staff preparation to insure that speech, language, and hearing handicapped pupils' needs are met in the most expeditious and effective manner possible.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Keeps required records and submits periodic reports. 2. Maintains public relations program in all its ramifications. 3. Keeps informed regarding latest research and professional developments and techniques. 4. Performs other duties as assigned.

In addition to completed application, the following items must be submitted: Cover Letter Resume At least two current letters of recommendation (Transcripts required if hired) Requirements / Qualifications

In addition to completed application, the following items must be submitted: Cover Letter Resume At least two current letters of recommendation (Transcripts required if hired) Comments and Other Information Newly hired certificated employees with a signed employment contract employed by the District on or after July 1, 2026 will receive a $10,000 bonus: five thousand dollars ($5,000) will be paid with the first payroll period after the first day of service in the first year of employment with the District and five thousand dollars ($5,000) will be paid with the first payroll period after the first day of service in the second year of employment. If selected for position, the following will be required: DOJ/FBI (fingerprint) clearance; a pre-employment physical, and a current (within 60 days of date of hire) TB clearance. Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
