MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess students referred for speech and language services
  • Develop and implement an Individual Education Program (I.E.P.) for each student who qualifies for speech and language services as part of his/her special education program
  • Participate as a member of an I.E.P. team for students receiving speech and language services
  • Participate as a member of an initial I.E.P. team for students who have been assessed for speech and language services and provide information to the team regarding assessment findings
  • Keep abreast of trends and developments in special education, and participate in professional growth opportunities
  • Participate in regular meetings of the District's speech and language specialists
  • Perform other duties assigned by the administrator
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION
Knowledge of:
  • students with exceptional needs
  • diagnostic and assessment instruments
  • methods and materials to remediate speech and language disorders
  • policies and regulations in the identification of students and educational planning Ability to:
  • communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
  • work as a team member with other speech and language specialists and professional staff Requirements / Qualifications
