MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assess students referred for speech and language services
- Develop and implement an Individual Education Program (I.E.P.) for each student who qualifies for speech and language services as part of his/her special education program
- Participate as a member of an I.E.P. team for students receiving speech and language services
- Participate as a member of an initial I.E.P. team for students who have been assessed for speech and language services and provide information to the team regarding assessment findings
- Keep abreast of trends and developments in special education, and participate in professional growth opportunities
- Participate in regular meetings of the District's speech and language specialists
- Perform other duties assigned by the administrator
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATION
Knowledge of:
- students with exceptional needs
- diagnostic and assessment instruments
- methods and materials to remediate speech and language disorders
- policies and regulations in the identification of students and educational planning Ability to:
- communicate effectively with students, staff and parents
- work as a team member with other speech and language specialists and professional staff Requirements / Qualifications
