Job Description
As a Home Health Speech Language Pathologist (PRN), you will provide specialized therapeutic services to patients in their homes across the United States, focusing on improving communication, swallowing, and cognitive-communication disorders. Your role is critical in assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, voice, and swallowing impairments to enhance patients' quality of life and independence. You will collaborate closely with patients, families, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop personalized treatment plans that address individual needs and goals. This position requires flexibility and adaptability to work on an as-needed basis, delivering high-quality care in diverse home environments. Ultimately, your expertise will empower patients to regain essential communication and swallowing functions, supporting their overall health and well-being in a comfortable, familiar setting. As a Speech Language Pathologist, you will: Administer and evaluate hearing or speech and language test results, barium swallow results, or medical or background information to diagnose and plan treatment for speech, language, fluency, voice, or swallowing disorders. Develop or implement treatment plans for problems such as stuttering, delayed language, swallowing disorders, or inappropriate pitch or harsh voice problems, based on own assessments and recommendations of physicians, psychologists, or social workers. Participate in and write reports for meetings regarding patients' progress, such as individualized educational planning (IEP) meetings, in-service meetings, or intervention assistance team meetings. Instruct clients in techniques for more effective communication, such as sign language, lip reading, or voice improvement. Educate patients and family members about various topics, such as communication techniques or strategies to cope with or to avoid personal misunderstandings. Develop speech exercise programs to reduce disabilities. Teach clients to control or strengthen tongue, jaw, face muscles, or breathing mechanisms. Supervise or collaborate with the therapy team. Requirements Valid Speech Language Pathologist License 1 year of rehab experience preferred CPR certification Valid Driver's License Valid Auto Insurance Long Term Care experience preferred Vital-Stim certification preferred HomeCare HomeBase experience preferred Physical Demands Must be able to stand, walk, sit, climb, crawl, squat, or kneel for extended periods.
