Job Description

Contract Speech-Language Pathologist Metropolitan Area Communication Services $55 - $65/hour A Clinical Fellow will be considered Position available in
DC Charter School Therapy Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide services in a school-based setting Provide intervention to clients through Response to Intervention Provide speech and language therapy that addresses goals for clients as indicated per their Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 Plans using evidence-based practice Participate in Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, IEP meetings, and Manifestation Determination Review (MDR) meetings for clients on caseload Maintain schedule for speech/language screenings, evaluations, therapy, instructional services, and other activities Implement procedures to record and use data to monitor client progress and modify therapeutic instructional approaches to ensure client growth Keep thorough and timely records for each client receiving therapy Complete all required special education paperwork including but not limited to weekly therapy notes, IEP present levels, IEP goals, service trackers, and quarterly progress reports Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments Consult with teachers to develop and implement curriculum modifications and accommodations in order to support clients goals Monitor client progress through consultations with classroom teachers Create and foster a positive learning environment Establish and maintain strong communication lines with all parents Collaborate with parents; provide resources and information for families Communicate, consult, and collaborate with school personnel Work with clients one-on-one, in small groups, and/or directly in a classroom to overcome difficulties involved with specific disorders Provide ESY services as needed Provide services as it relates to speech, language, and cognitive-communicative (linguistic) abilities to complete ADLs, vocational activities, work, etc.
Screening and Evaluation Responsibilities:
Conduct speech and language screenings Conduct speech/language evaluations using a variety of formal and informal assessments based on individual client needs, present levels, data, and recommendations to IEP team Provide and complete comprehensive diagnostic assessments of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills in a timely manner; and determine the presence/absence of a specific communication disorder which adversely impacts academic progress Recommend tools and resources to families that can be used at home, based on the client's ability, and progress Perform additional alternative evaluation if a diagnosis is unclear Recommend additional evaluations when necessary
