Overview:
As the Lead Speech Therapist you will be responsible for planning and coordination of clinical operations and program development of the speech therapy clinical program. Provides and coordinates comprehensive care to patients of all ages through the proper utilization of evaluation, planning and implementation of the treatment plan in accordance with established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines (approximately 75% of time is dedicated toward management of clinical caseload). Additionally, assists Director and Rehabilitation Manager in on-site supervision of inpatient and speech therapy rehabilitation staff, support staff particularly coordination of interdisciplinary team members along with day-to-day operation in absence of Rehabilitation Manager. KariWatson Qualifications:
Education:
Licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist in the State of Illinois required. American Speech/Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) certification preferred.
Licensure/Certification/Registry:
Illinois licensed Speech Therapist. CPR certification is required.
Experience:
Five years' clinical experience in a multidisciplinary rehabilitation setting required.

Demonstrated clinical expertise as per performance appraisals or letters of recommendation. Broad based knowledge of current issues and trends in assigned program area. Strong leadership skills. Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills. Precautions Category I. Must possess valid Illinois driver's license and must be deemed as an acceptable driver in accordance with the MHS Fleet Safety Policy (five year MVR will be required). Must show proof of automobile insurance. Participates in strategic planning activities for the product line and areas of responsibility; completes assigned goals as part of the process; demonstrates support for and participates as requested in achieving MHS and MMC goals. Provides quality patient care and maintains clinical expertise in areas of responsibility. Maintains expert knowledge of rehabilitation therapy issues germane to caseload/program area. Coordinates day-to-day activities of the clinical team for efficient operation of the program. I prevent defects and delays. Maintains high level of customer satisfaction in areas of responsibility. Maintains daily awareness and responsibility for safety and infection control. Serves as program liaison with physicians, other hospital departments and community agencies. Participates in the departmental Quality Program including QA, Program Evaluation, and the maintenance of program operations and documentation in accordance with licensing and regulatory purposes (Joint Commission). Assists with staff recruitment and coordinates staff orientation to the team/program, and provides training and competency validation. Assesses, prioritizes and coordinates staff education to meet staff development and program needs. Assists Managers in annual budget preparation for areas of responsibility. Assists Managers in flexing of staff to meet referral demands. Coordinates clinical program planning activities by advising in areas of staffing, technology, treatment techniques, etc. Integrates efforts with appropriate Directors/Managers in accomplishing MHS and Rehab Services program goals and objectives. Identify, implement, and maintain validated systems for outcome assessment in areas of responsibility. (FOTO). Performs other related work as required or requested.
