The Speech/Language Pathologist assists in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. In order to respond to the individual needs and abilities of students, the Speech/Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the cooperative and school corporation. In addition to serving a caseload of students with Speech or Language Impairments, the K-12 Lead SLP will serve as a mentor for TSC SLPs who are pursuing their Clinical Fellowships. The K-12 Lead SLP will support the CF SLPs in obtaining all required supervision and documentation to obtain their Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and their full state licensure Requirements In this role, the Lead SLP acts as the Clinical Fellowship Mentor, ensuring the CF meets the following requirements:Supervision Hours:
Providing the required direct and indirect supervision (usually 36 segments of monitoring).Skill Assessment:
Rating the CF's performance across the 12 core clinical skills using the Clinical Fellowship Skills Inventory (CFSI).Documentation:
Verifying the Clinical Fellowship Report and Rating Form for submission to ASHA.Licensure Transition:
Assisting the CF in moving from a "Temporary" or "Initial" state license to a "Professional" or "Full" license once the fellowship is complete. Additional responsibilities of the K-12Lead SLP:
Create positive and respectful relationships with students, staff, parents, administrators, and professional agencies who work on behalf of the student. Complete and maintain records as required by Federal IDEA, State Article 7, and corporation procedures, including evaluations, reports, and Medicaid reimbursement according to mandated timelines. Assist in the early recognition and prevention of educational problems. Monitor student progress related to the IEP and make informed, timely educational decisions. Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports. Conduct speech, language, and hearing screenings and diagnostic evaluations to determine the need for services. Participate as a team member in the comprehensive evaluation, review, and reevaluation process. Participate in the development of student IEPs. Provide therapy, follow-up, and consultation based on student IEPs. Consult with parents, teachers, administrators, and others concerning students' needs and available special services.Similar remote jobs
