Qualifications- Valid Speech/Language Pathology License
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC)
- Department of Education Educational Specialist Certificate #293(optional) Position Description
- Speech Pathologist-focus of caseload to be determined Responsibilities
- Guide staff in observing, describing, and referring suspected & identified students with speech and language and hearing disorders
- Serve as a resource to staff members
- Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech and language disorders
- Develop and implement appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet needs of children with identified speech, language and hearing disabilities
- Provide therapy within the classroom setting or in a pullout model as appropriate
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement therapy suggestions for individual students' daily activities
- Provide information and support to parents and families when appropriate
- Provide in service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech, language and hearing as needed
- Maintain thorough ongoing records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech/language services
- Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate
- Provide screening to identify speech/language disabled students at regular intervals including kindergarten screening
