Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology, or a related field, is required Certification-Clinical Competency (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Current license through Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) Demonstrates knowledge of Special Education rules, guidelines and proceduresKEY RESPONSIBILITES
Duties of this job include, but are not limited to : Provide specialized, group and individualized speech/language instruction to Special Education students in general education through push-in and pull-out service delivery models Adhere to Michigan's speech/language guidelines for eligibility, service delivery and exit criteria Provide consultative support to the general education teachers through routinely scheduled consultation related to the progress of identified students Manage student behaviors and maximize student engagement/achievement Facilitate open, continuous communication with general education staff, administrators and parents Develop, coordinate and conduct REEDs, METs, and IEPs Administer and interpret comprehensive speech/language testing for annual and three-year reevaluations utilizing standard and nonstandard assessment procedures Familiarity and participation in the student support team process Maintain accurate and complete records, according to district policies/procedures and IDEA law Collaborate with early intervention providers, such as Head Start and Stottlemeyer Attend all Special Education and building staff meetings and professional development Participate in building and/or district committees Adhere to policies of the Westwood Community Board of Education Perform other duties as may be assigned by theSpecial Education Director or Building Principal Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students Ability and patience to work interactively with students Skill in organization, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to deliver teaching instruction in accordance with improved curriculum and standards Excellent skills in verbal and written communication Ability to understand the individual needs of each student Ability to effectively use Google and the student information system � MiStar Ability to take accurate and timely attendance Ability to update grades no later than 2 days after an assignment has been given to students Ability to check and respond to email at least 3 times a day - before school, during prep, and after schoolPhysical Demands:
