Job Description
Goodrich Area Schools Speech & Language Pathologist Qualifications and Requirements Education :
Master's Degree required in speech and language pathology or communication disorders. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred, preferred but willing to offer appropriate supervision to achieve certification.Experience :
Experience with students certified as Speech and Language Impaired (SLI), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and with augmentative communication systems and devices preferred.Skills:
Ability to work cooperatively with individuals and groups Ability to communicate professionally in written and oral language. Demonstrated initiative and understanding in working with students, families, and staff. Demonstrated ability and stamina for meeting the requirements of the position. Ability to make decisions in accordance with Board policies & IDEA mandates.Other:
Valid State of Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Board of Speech Pathology:
Speech Pathology License Essential Functions and Representative Duties Conducts and provides written evaluations to suspected students with disabilities or students enrolled in special education in the areas of speech, voice, language and oral motor skills. Provides direct one-on-one and group speech and language services to eligible students with disabilities. Provides consultation to staff and parents/guardians regarding speech and language services; including the use of augmentative communication systems and devices related to the individual needs of students. Develops and writes annual goals and short-term objectives for students assigned to caseload. Attends and participates in Multidisciplinary Evaluation Team (MET) and Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meetings as required. Complies and maintains service and progress records, written reports, and other documentation for students assigned to caseload. Works as a team member with instructional and ancillary staff to refer eligible students for speech and language services. Willingness to attend professional learning opportunities as it relates to this position. Support the MTSS process in designated school.
