MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Meet the requirements as specified in the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education Revised
R340.1796
Certification of Clinical Competences for ASHA or finishing the Clinical Fellowship year Knowledge of Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Outstanding communication skills - verbal and written Experience working with multiple special education populations (e.g.
ASD, SLI, LD, EI
) preferred Knowledge and understanding of speech and language diagnostic procedures Knowledge of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports and accompanying procedures Knowledgeable and experienced in matters of proper special education procedures
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Establish and monitor the necessary caseloads, procedures, and resources to manage speech and language services to students. Experience with a variety of language and articulation assessments and their purpose Complete and maintain records, documentation and record keeping in accordance with district policies, procedures and directives Conduct speech and language evaluations and re-evaluations. Participate on Multi-Disciplinary teams, Individual Education Planning Teams, and work collaboratively with teachers, professionals, students, and parents/guardians. Develop speech and language interventions and support strategies. Ability to independently and accurately implement the requirements of IDEA and MARSE. Consult with parents, teachers and other appropriate staff regarding the student's program and any adaptions/materials needed to facilitate improved performance in the classroom or at home. Perform all other related duties and documentation requirements as assigned by the Administrator.

Performs special assignments as directed by the Administration. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to stand and walk over extended periods of time Ability to sit up to for extended periods of time in a work day, and to sit/stand several times in short periods of time Must be able to lift, carry, and transport heavy items
