Position:
Speech and Language Pathologist To Whom Responsible:
Building Administrator Director of Special Programs For Whom/What Responsible:
Provides all learners an educational opportunity that allows for the development of speech-language skills for the purposes of accessing regular and special education services; submitting required documentation in order for the District to bill Medicaid for eligible students.
Qualifications:
Degree - minimum of Master's degree from an accredited institution. Certificate - Missouri Board of Healing Arts license required, and ASHA CCCs preferred.

Primary Responsibilities:
To provide a quality speech/language program for students; To complete therapy duties necessary to the district's educational program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
PROGRAM
OPERATION
Direct therapy for children with disabilities (ages 3-21) as specified within the IEP Direct therapy for children with disabilities (ages 5-21) as specified within the 504 Consultative services SLP Evaluations Participation in diagnostic evaluations/staffing and IEP meetings Preparation of required reports including Medicaid and documentation of services Consultation on assistive technology and equipment needs Training for classroom teachers/paraprofessionals and other implementers of the students' goals and objectives Extended School Year Coverage (up to six weeks half or full days as determined needed) Other therapy-related assistance to the IEP committee/school district as needed Participates in the development of Individual Education Plans which are appropriate to the students abilities and needs. Demonstrates competent knowledge of subject matter. Uses a variety of materials. Uses instructional time effectively. Expects to motivate students. Communicates effectively with students. Provides evaluative feedback to students.
CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
Organizes classroom to promote learning. Manages student behavior constructively.
I NTERPERSONAL RELATIONSHIPS
Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students. Demonstrates patience, respect and understanding for students. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with staff. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with parents.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in professional growth activities. Demonstrates initiative and enthusiasm toward work. Follows the policies and procedures of the school district. Assumes out of class responsibilities. Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility. Supervises student externs as assigned. Prepares necessary materials for substitutes. Participates in staffing of students with special needs. Assists with the identification process of special services students. Develops evaluation reports in the manner established by the District. Follows special education process and procedure as outlined in the District Compliance Plan. Provides information needed for all state and federal reports. Conducts self at all times as a representative of the school. Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Compensation is according to the salary schedule as established annually by the Board of Education. All other employee benefits are according to the total FTE of employment for the individual.
EVALUATION
Performance of this position will be evaluated according to board policies and the Warrensburg R-VI School District adopted model of Performance Based Teacher Evaluation.
