Job Overview:
Provides direct patient care services to individuals exhibiting communication and or swallowing disorders. Coordinates services with other health professionals. May assist in the training and supervision of students.
Qualifications:
Required:
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology NJ State Speech-Language Pathology License Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Member of ASHA AHA BLS Provider Certification Evidence of continuing education is necessary to meet licensing requirements Thorough knowledge of the theoretical principles and clinical application employed in the diagnosis and management of various communication and swallowing disorders
Preferred:
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a CCC-SLP Experience working in an inpatient hospital setting Bilingual communication skills
Certifications and Licenses Required:
NJ State Speech-Language Pathology License Certificate of Clinical Competence from American Speech-Language-Hearing Association Member of ASHA
AHA BLS Provider Certification Scheduling Requirements:
Per Diem 1 weekend day per month 1 holiday per year
Essential Functions:
Evaluate the patient to determine the type of speech, language, cognitive, or swallow disorder Identify the patient's speech therapy needs and develop a plan of care with short and long-term goals Refer for additional swallowing assessments or to appropriate providers as clinically indicated Document and keep appropriate records on each client including evaluations and treatment notes Educate the patient, the caregivers, and the interdisciplinary team regarding the methods to assist the patient to work towards their goals Participate in planning and development of staff in-service programs and Quality Assurance activities as requested Follow HIPAA Compliance at all times Maintain DNV regulations Function independently with minimal direction from manager Comply with unit and department scheduling guidelines Maintain and update professional knowledge and proficiency through continuing education, staff meetings, workshops, and serving on special committees Promote a positive and healthy workplace environment Interact with other disciplines, departments, agencies and companies in a professional manner Performs other duties as assigned
