JOB GOAL
To maximize the communication behavior of each child classified as Speech Impaired by delivery of appropriate speech therapy services.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
Screens children referred for suspected communication problems. Complies with Louisiana Bulletins 1706 and 1508 guidelines for procedures relating to identification, evaluation and placement of speech impaired students. Maintains current records and time lines based on LANSER requirements. Enforces disciplinary policy campus-wide and in the classroom. Participates in Back-to-School Night. Assumes other school-keeping duties as assigned. Follows planning, management and instruction domains of Louisiana Components of Effective Teaching as much as applicable, adapting as necessary to accommodate the Individual Education Plan (IEP) of each student. Completes a self-evaluation annually. Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority.

The speech therapist maintains regular attendance and punctuality and notifies appropriate personnel of absences and late arrivals in a prompt manner, as per district procedures. The speech therapist complies with all district rules and policies. The speech therapist ensures proper care of supplies, electronics/computers and other equipment. The speech therapist maintains his/her assigned area and its environment in a manner conducive to a professional working environment. The speech therapist participates in activities to improve professional competence, including those activities required by the board. The speech therapist oversees the maintenance of current records and reports as assigned. The speech therapist projects a well-groomed, professional appearance. The speech therapist accepts and implements assistance and resources designed to improve or enhance performance. The speech therapist contributes to achieving the district's mission, engages in self-reflection and growth opportunities, and creates and sustains partnerships with colleagues and communities. The speech therapist engages in self-reflection and growth opportunities to support high levels of learning for all staff and students. The speech therapist is courteous to faculty, staff and the public. The speech therapist recognizes and respects the rights and property of other employees and the public. The speech therapist exhibits professional and ethical conduct. The speech therapist exercises proper judgment and refrains from conduct which reduces or causes a loss of his/her effectiveness in the profession. The speech therapist adheres to all deadlines set by board policy. The speech therapist exhibits positive personal behavior and avoids improprieties or the appearance of improprieties. The speech therapist maintains confidentiality of all matters related to student and employee matters. Reports job-related injuries within 48 hours of a work accident to the immediate supervisor.
