  • July 31, 2027 (with option years) Position Overview AMB is seeking a qualified Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) to provide in-person speech therapy services in a school-based setting under a federal contract with the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE).
The selected professional will deliver direct and indirect services to students with speech and language impairments, ensuring full compliance with federal education and healthcare standards. The position requires a highly skilled clinician capable of working in a culturally diverse environment , including Native American communities, while maintaining strict adherence to federal regulations and student privacy requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Direct Clinical Services Evaluate students for eligibility in special education programs Identify speech and language impairments Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Provide direct therapeutic interventions using appropriate service delivery models Deliver compensatory services as required Provide 100% in-person services as required by the contract 2. Indirect & Support Services Conduct dynamic student assessments and screenings Collaborate with teachers to align therapy with instructional strategies Participate in pre-referral and intervention planning Observe students in classroom environments Support prevention of academic and literacy challenges Maintain detailed service logs and upload documentation to required systems (e.g., NASIS) Prepare and submit student progress and evaluation reports 3. Compliance & Documentation Follow all applicable regulations, including: IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) FERPA (Student Privacy Compliance) BIE guidelines and federal policies Ensure protection of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) Submit accurate documentation and reports in a timely manner 4. Collaboration & Communication Work closely with school staff, administrators, and parents Participate in parent-teacher conferences Provide professional recommendations for student development Serve as a key contributor to multidisciplinary educational teams 5. Safety & Regulatory Compliance Maintain compliance with all federal safety and health regulations Utilize proper PPE when required Follow school and federal facility protocols Complete required background investigation and security clearance prior to start Required Qualifications Active Speech Language Pathologist License (State of New Mexico) National certification (CCC-SLP preferred) Experience in school-based or pediatric therapy services Strong knowledge of
IDEA, IEP
development, and educational therapy practices Ability to pass federal background investigation and clearance Strong communication and documentation skills Preferred Qualifications Experience working in federal contracts or government-funded programs Experience working with Native American or culturally diverse populations Familiarity with BIE or similar educational systems Work Requirements Estimated workload: ~1,808 hours annually (including school year and summer services) Full-time, on-site presence required Ability to stand, walk, and engage in active school environments Compensation Structure Time & Materials (Labor Hour) Contract All-inclusive hourly rate (covers labor, travel, and expenses) Conclusion This role requires a highly capable professional who can deliver compliant, high-quality therapy services in alignment with federal contract requirements.
