Job Description

STARTING DATE
: August 31, 2026 to November 30, 2026 (anticipated) Mondays-Fridays, 7:30-11:15am
CLASSIFICATION
: Certified
QUALIFICATIONS
: NYS Speech & Hearing Certification, Teacher of Speech & Hearing Handicapped Certificate, NYS License (ASHA Certification) preferable
SALARY RANGE
: $72.50 per day for certified teacher for 0-29 days $77.50 per day for certified teacher 30-89 days $77.50 per day for retired teachers with 20 years of verifiable NYS teaching experience
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
: To conduct speech and language evaluations of students referred by parents, Principals, or the Director of Special Education and provide results and reports in a timely fashion. To meet with parents of referred students to review speech and language evaluations. To conduct other assessments and screenings as needed including Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten. To be a resource for district employees for information relating to a student's diagnosis or disability and offer suggestions on ways to better facilitate learning for students. To attend CSE, CPSE, and 504 committees, as needed. To provide individual and/or small group therapy sessions to students. To make referrals to local and regional agencies, as needed. To maintain confidentiality and complete Medicaid paperwork for reimbursement. To establish and maintain cooperative, positive relationships with those contacted in the course of work. To carry out other duties as required by the Director of Special Education and Principal. To assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations and Board of Education policy. Maintain accurate, complete, & correct records as required by law, District policy & administrative regulation.
