Job Description

Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology, active SLP license and 1+ year of Speech-Language Pathology experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A special private school dedicated to serving students with level 3 autism, severe cognitive disabilities, and significant behavioral challenges is seeking a skilled Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) for a contract position in Queensbury, NY. This role focuses on supporting students across various grade levels, ranging from Kindergarten through 12th grade, in a year-round academic setting. The school hosts 78 students in total, distributed across 10 classrooms, each designed as a self-contained environment with an 8:1:3 staff-to-student ratio, ensuring individualized attention and support. The majority of students are non-verbal and utilize alternative communication methods, highlighting the importance of specialized speech therapy services. The age range of students is from 5 to 21 years old.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive speech-language therapy tailored to students with severe communication and cognitive needs. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Utilize alternative communication strategies to support non-verbal students. Maintain detailed documentation of therapy progress and adapt techniques for optimal outcomes. Engage with educators and caregivers to facilitate consistent communication support across environments.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid Speech-Language Pathologist license. Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorders, severe cognitive disabilities, and behavioral challenges. Proficiency in alternative and augmentative communication methods. Ability to work effectively in self-contained classroom settings. Strong collaboration and communication skills.
Work Schedule and Location:
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM. Position available ASAP through the end of the school year. Located in Queensbury, NY, within a year-round special education school setting. Dedicated therapy spaces offered to ensure a focused and supportive work environment.
