Scope of Position & Technical Competency:
Provides direct, consultative, and supportive diagnostic and therapeutic services for communication and oral motor disorders to students and staff members to enhance individual potential for learning and to meet the specific needs of students Provides service, treatment, and intervention in accordance with regulations, standards, and guidelines defined by the American Speech/Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) Code of Ethical Practice, Health Insurance Portability & Accountability Act (HIPAA), the Individual Education Plan (IEP), and established Soaring Heights Schools policies and procedures Facilitates a team approach to program development, implementation, and monitoring by effectively collaborating with all specialty/clinical disciplines, parents/guardians, and school staff, to identify and best meet the individual communication needs of each student Performs evaluations and assessments for students per IEP mandates Authors goals and objectives for each student served Communicates results of assessments to all members of the IEP team Recommends assistive technology for students who need enhanced supports for effective communication development Recommends level of direct and indirect services to best support and achieve IEP goals and objectives Maintains ongoing case documentation as required Attends conferences, workshops, seminars, to keep pace with best practice in SLP delivery of servicesEducation, Experience:
Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology. Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech, Language, and Hearing Association (ASHA) required, or the eligibility to participate as a clinical fellow. Supervision for clinical fellowship is available. Minimum of one year of work experience in communication and oral motor therapy preferred, though not required, in working with developmentally disabled students.Job-related Behavioral Characteristics:

Maintains professionalism and does not show favoritism. Maintains consistency with clients, staff, visitors, and the public. Ability to handle a crisis situation and react appropriately. Flexibility and adaptable. Ability to make decisions in an objective and ethical manner. Calm and decisive in crisis situations.
