General Job Description:
To develop students' communication skills to appropriately address their educational needs
Reports To:
Senior Executive Director of Special Services
Qualifications:
A valid certificate with the South Carolina Department of Education and valid license with the South Carolina Labor and Licensing Regulations board to practice as a Speech Language Pathologist Master's Degree Required
Essential Job Functions:
Conducts evaluation of students with communicative disorders. Evaluates and diagnoses speech and language disorders. Develops and implements individualized education plans to meet the unique needs of each student receiving therapy. Develops appropriate service delivery models to meet the needs of students. Refers students to other professional and community agencies when needed. Consults with classroom teachers and other school personnel to facilitate carry-over of therapy gains into classroom activities. Provides information, support, and guidance to parents/guardians and families. Assists teachers in the identification of children with communicative disorders. Maintains records for students evaluated and receiving services. Informs administrators and other members of the educational team of program developments and student progress. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership. Coordinates services with other school programs. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policy, and state and federal rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; maintaining confidentiality; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with frequent interruptions. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, ability to adjust focus. Terms of Employment 190 day contract. Salary determined by placement on District's Occupational Therapist/Physical Therapist/Speech Language Pathologist salary schedule Evaluation Job performance evaluated annually in accordance with board policy.
