Job Details Job DescriptionJob Description Job Summary:
The Individual Speech Sponsor is responsible for organizing, directing, and supervising the school's individual speech program. The sponsor provides instruction, coaching, and mentorship to students participating in individual speech events, helping them develop communication, interpretation, public speaking, and performance skills. The sponsor prepares students for district, state, and other approved speech contests while fostering confidence, creativity, leadership, and academic growth. The sponsor ensures the program operates in compliance with district policies and speech association guidelines while promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment. The sponsor works collaboratively with students, parents, staff, and administration to ensure a positive and successful speech program that aligns with district goals and activities regulations. The goal is to provide students with opportunities to develop and showcase individual communication and performance skills through participation in speech activities while representing the school with excellence, professionalism, and integrity.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Recruit students and promote participation in individual speech contests or events. Direct and coach individual speech events. Safely transports and supervises in district vehicles as required by district policy. Select and prepare materials appropriate for competition. Regularly schedule and supervise practices and rehearsals. Coordinate contest registration and meet all deadlines. Supervise students during practices, performances, and competitions. Maintain communication with students, parents, administration, and contest officials. Promote teamwork, responsibility, and positive representation of the school district. Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct during all activities per district policies. Complete required reports and documents. Other responsibilities in this role as required. Report to Activities Director and Building Administration.
Qualifications:
Valid authorization required by district policy. Experience with speech, theatre, or communication activities preferred. Strong organizational and leadership
Physical Requirements:
Bending, carrying, climbing, driving, lifting, pushing/pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking
Terms of Employment:
Length of assignment and compensation determined by the district's extracurricular salary schedule. Must meet all district requirements for extracurricular activity sponsors and advisor.
