06/15/2026 Support school program of speech-language services by providing speech-language assessments and therapy under the supervision of a Licensed Speech Language Pathologist. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures and regulations. Essential Functions Comply with federal and state laws and district policies and procedures in the referral, placement and review process for speech-language services. Administer appropriate diagnostic tests in all communication parameters to identify students with speech and language disabilities. Determine eligibility for speech-language service through review of referral information, observation and assessment data. Prepare evaluation reports in compliance with federal, state and district requirements. Prepare and conduct admission, review and dismissal (ARD) committee meetings in compliance with federal and state laws and district policies and procedures. Identify communication needs and recommend therapeutic objectives for the development of the individual education plan (IEP). Recommend appropriate placement and service delivery model to the ARD committee. Provide therapy in the areas of articulation, fluency, language, voice, swallowing, augmentative and alternative communication techniques and strategies. Use appropriate technology to increase therapeutic effectiveness and maintenance of required documentation. Use management practices that promote teamwork and collaborative decisions for students with speech and language disabilities. Develop and maintain skills by applying knowledge gained through staff development and continuing education. Comply with State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology rules. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job. Other Responsibilities Participate in professional development activities as required by the district, to include self-selected professional development activities designed to extend professional knowledge and expertise. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district /department goals and follow district policies and procedures. Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master's degree in Speech Therapy. Valid Texas license and a Speech Language Pathologist Intern granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech Language Pathology and Audiology. Currently enrolled in a supervised speech-language pathology intern plan; bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Ability to use accepted tests and measurements to assess communication disorders and conditions. Knowledge of evaluation, habilitation on rehabilitation of speech-language disorders and conditions; ability to instruct and manage student behavior. Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Maintain emotional control under stress; ability to work with frequent interruptions; prolonged use of computers and occasional prolonged and irregular hours; occasional district-wide travel. May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities. Valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license; subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation; must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.
