Job Overview:
This SLP will be working with patients at our SNF / Rehabilitation facility providing crucial care to people of all age groups to overcome challenges related to speech, language, and oral motor skills. The primary goal is to enhance individuals' ability to communicate effectively and promote improved swallowing function.
Key Responsibilities:
1.
Assessment and Evaluation:
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
  • Use standardized tests, informal assessments, and observations to gather information about clients' communication abilities.
2.
Diagnosis:
  • Analyze assessment data to formulate a diagnosis and determine the nature and severity of speech and language disorders.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to integrate findings into an overall treatment plan.
3.
Treatment Planning:
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to clients' specific needs and goals.
  • Establish realistic and measurable objectives to track progress over time.
4.
Therapeutic Intervention:
  • Provide direct therapy services to clients, implementing evidence-based interventions to address communication and swallowing challenges.
  • Use a variety of techniques, activities, and technologies to enhance clients' communication skills.
5.
Client and Family Education:
  • Educate clients and their families on the nature of speech and language disorders, as well as strategies for home-based practice.
  • Foster communication skills in naturalistic environments to facilitate generalization of learned skills.
6.
Collaboration:
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including teachers, physicians, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals, to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and contribute valuable insights to holistic client management.
7.
Documentation and Record-Keeping:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and other relevant documentation.
  • Adhere to legal and ethical standards in record-keeping and client confidentiality.
8.
Professional Development:
  • Stay informed about advancements in the field of speech-language pathology through continuing education, workshops, and professional conferences.
  • Pursue additional certifications or specializations to enhance expertise.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • State licensure and certification from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion and patience when working with individuals facing communication challenges.
  • Ability to adapt to various work environments and collaborate effectively within interdisciplinary teams.
