Job Description

About The Language Arc The Language Arc is a pediatric learning and wellness center built on a simple belief: when children are truly seen and supported, they thrive. We've designed our practice not as a traditional therapy clinic, but as an integrated therapeutic ecosystem — one where clinical care, education, and community intersect to meet children and families where they are. Our model is organized around four interconnected pillars: specialized speech-language and occupational therapy services, Roots Academy (our play-based, inclusive microschool), enrichment programming, and a technology-forward approach to care that makes the experience seamless for families and staff alike. Together, these aren't separate offerings — they're one ecosystem designed to support children holistically, across every context in which they learn and grow. The Opportunity We're looking for an SLP who wants more than a caseload. This is a dual-role position embedded across two pillars of our ecosystem — our clinical therapy practice and Roots Academy — and it's designed for a clinician who believes the most meaningful work happens when therapy doesn't stay in one room. Our team provides services across a range of settings throughout the week: in our clinic, within partner schools, inside Roots Academy's microschool environment, and virtually. That variety is built into how we work — offering genuine novelty, flexibility, and the opportunity to show up for kids in the contexts that matter most to them. You'll deliver care through multiple models: individual and small group therapy, school-embedded consultation, caregiver coaching, and naturalistic intervention woven into Roots Academy's play-based, project-rich days. If you've ever wanted to bring your clinical skills into creative, real-world contexts — to see what's possible when therapy is woven into the rhythm of a child's actual day — this is that place. What You'll Do Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized, strengths-based treatment plans Provide therapy across delivery models including direct services, push-in support within Roots Academy, partner school settings, and virtual sessions Collaborate with educators and families as an integrated member of the child's support team Contribute clinical perspective to the play-based learning environment at Roots Academy Document progress and adjust plans with a focus on functional, meaningful outcomes Support families in understanding their child's communication profile and how to nurture growth at home What We're Looking For Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders Valid Virginia licensure (or eligibility) Experience with pediatric populations; familiarity with AAC, executive functioning, and/or social-emotional development is a plus A genuine belief in connection-centered, neurodiversity-affirming care Comfort working across settings and delivery models — and curiosity about what's possible when you do Collaborative spirit and strong communication with families, colleagues, and community partners Why TLA We built TLA around the values we actually believe in — not just the ones that look good on a website. That means prioritizing clinician well-being, professional growth, and sustainable caseloads. It means giving you the space to practice creatively and the support to do it well. And it means working alongside a team that's genuinely invested in getting this right, for kids and for each other.
