Job Description
Windham Southeast Supervisory Union (WSESU) is looking for a Part-time, long-term substitute Speech Language Pathologist for the 2026-2027 school year from September 21 to March 3. WSESU is seeking motivating, engaging, and diverse educators and encourages all who are interested in diversity, equity and social justice to consider working with us. We are searching for a Speech Language Pathologist to provide direct services to students who is passionate about working with young people and helping them to prepare for the future. Applicants must be certified (or eligible for certification) by the Vermont AOE as a Speech Language Pathologist. Successful candidates will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and proficiency in the Google platform. This position follows the WSESU school calendar. Knowledge and Skills:
Ability to assess students' communication skills (e.g. articulation, fluency, voice, expressive and receptive language, etc.) for the purpose of identifying communication disorders, determining special education eligibility, and developing and implementing treatment plans. Ability to monitor student progress and adjust programs accordingly. Ability to write speech/language IEP goals, objectives and evaluation reports. Ability to supervise the work of a Speech Language Pathology Assistant Collaborate with other professionals within the school's Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) as appropriate to support specialized learning outlined in the IEP. Build positive relationships with parents/guardians and maintain consistent communication about the IEP process, including documenting contact, facilitating meetings, creating amendments and all other IEP documentation requirements. Knowledge of State and Federal laws and regulations for IEP compliance. Responsible for building positive relationships with students, parents, teachers, and other community partners. Work with classroom teachers to select, design/modify classroom services (including learning activities, instructional groupings, lesson plans, educational materials, curricula, assessments, teaching strategies, and the like) for assigned students designed to promote the communication, academic, vocational, physical and social development needs of students, adhering to accommodations as appropriate. Acquire and exhibit working knowledge of Special Education program operating procedures and routines and current best practices in Speech/Language pathology and other professional related areas as assigned.
