Summary Up to $5,000 in sign on bonus & $2,500 after one year Must be an external applicant. A Speech Language Pathologist provides professional services in diagnosing disorders and providing therapy for patients who demonstrate disorders of communication and/or swallowing. This includes evaluation of all assigned patients, the development of treatment plans, administration and implementation of the treatment program, and appropriate discharge planning.
Position Reports To:
Rehab Services Manager Essential Functions Perform initial evaluation including history of prior level of function, subjective information, objective tests and measures, assessment (including discharge disposition/home safety recommendations as appropriate), and establishment of plan of care and goals for future treatments. Incorporate evidence based clinical decision making to select and utilize appropriate patient interventions in accordance with plan of care, and modify plan of care as appropriate based on patient progress/response to interventions. Identify the safest, least restrictive diet for patients, educate patients and caregivers on diet modifications, provide instruction to perform accurate diet modifications, and collaborate with other disciplines to ensure patient's nutritional and hydrational needs are being met safely. Follow best practice for clinical documentation. Maintain patient safety, modesty, and privacy/confidentiality at all times. Provide education to patients, caregivers and other staff members as appropriate. Collaborate and communicate effectively with other team members including physicians, case managers, nurses, and other therapy staff, including participation in discharge planning in inpatient settings. Screen for and make referrals to other disciplines when indicated. Required to maintain current BLS certification. Other duties as assigned. Demonstrate Standards of Behavior and adhere to the Code of Conduct in all aspects of job performance at all times.
Qualifications Required:
Active or Interim WA State Speech Pathologist license, required by start date. A certification of clinical competence by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA) or actively pursuing clinical fellowship with ASHA.
Desired :
Two years of speech-language pathology experience. Physical/Sensory Demands O = Occasional, represents 1 to 25% or up to 30 minutes in a 2 hour workday. F = Frequent, represents 26 to 50% or up to 1 hour of a 2 hour workday. C = Continuous, represents 51% to 100% or up to 2 hours of a 2 hour workday.

O Working Conditions:
Work is performed in the Rehabilitation Services department including reception area, treatment rooms, office, gym areas as well as patient rooms and hallways with inpatients. Involves continuous contact with patients. Interaction is constant with frequent interruptions. Contact involves dealing with ill people.
