Speech/Language Therapist Posting
DESCRIPTION
: The Bristol School District #1 is seeking an energetic and innovative Speech & Language Pathologist to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) provides assessment, intervention, consultation, and case management services to students with speech, language, voice, fluency, and communication disorders that impact educational performance. The SLP collaborates with educators, families, and multidisciplinary teams to support students' communication skills, academic achievement, social-emotional development, and access to the educational environment. Services are provided in accordance with federal and state special education laws, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) requirements, and district policies.
Salary/Wage:
Salary commensurate with experience" etc. The District will pay annual ASHA membership dues for the employed Speech-Language Pathologist and supports ongoing professional learning.
Years of Experience:
At least 1 year of experience, preferably in a public school district.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assessment and Evaluation:
Conduct timely, comprehensive speech-language evaluations for students referred through the special education process. Select, administer, and interpret formal, informal/dynamic assessment measures to determine educational eligibility under Wisconsin special education criteria. Prepare written evaluation reports and present findings to parents and educational teams at IEP meetings. Assist in the development and implementation of reevaluations as required by state and federal regulations.
Direct and Indirect Services:
Develop and implement individualized education program (IEP) goals and objectives related to communication needs. Plan and provide evidenced-based individual and group therapy services designed to address communication needs in the areas of speech sound production skills, expressive and receptive language skills, fluency, voice, pragmatics and other related disorders that impact educational performance. Provide indirect services through consultation, collaboration, and support to educational staff. Support students across a variety of educational settings using inclusive and least restrictive environment practices. The District values innovative and evidence-based service delivery models and supports the use of a 3:1 service delivery model when appropriate to meet student needs.
Collaboration and Consultation:
Collaborate with teachers, parents, special education staff, administrators, school psychologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other service providers. Provide recommendations and strategies to support communication development within classroom routines and academic instruction. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, and other school-based problem-solving teams. Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and programming consistent with regular education reporting periods.
Compliance and Documentation:
Maintain accurate and timely records, progress reports, Medicaid documentation , service logs, and other required documentation. Ensure compliance with IDEA, Section 504, Wisconsin special education regulations, and district procedures. Monitor student progress and adjust services based on data and student needs. Complete all required timelines associated with evaluations, IEP development, and progress reporting.
Professional Responsibilities:
Maintain current knowledge of evidence-based practices and emerging trends in speech-language pathology. Participate in district professional development and professional learning opportunities. Maintain professional licensure and certifications. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or building administrator.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
School-based environment in a 4K through 8th grade building. Service delivery age ranges from 3 years of age through 8th grade. Work is performed in classrooms, therapy rooms, offices, and other educational environments. Frequent interaction with students, staff, families, and community agencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Sciences and Disorders from an accredited institution. Must be Wisconsin DPI certified in Speech and Language Pathology (1820) ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP)
Preferred Qualifications:
Possess knowledge of the IEP Team process. Familiar with Medicaid billing. Experience serving students in early childhood and elementary educational environments. Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). Experience working with students with autism spectrum disorder, developmental disabilities, speech sound disorders, and language disorders. Experience with Medicaid billing and school-based documentation requirements.
Physical Demands:
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach throughout the workday. Ability to move between classrooms and therapy locations. Ability to lift and carry therapy materials, equipment, and student records. Ability to use a computer and other technology for documentation, communication, and service delivery. Ability to communicate effectively in person, virtually, and in writing. Ability to safely respond to student needs in a school environment.
