QUALIFICATIONS
Valid WV license as Speech Language Pathologist PK-AD. Master's Degree or Equivalent Strong written and oral communication skills. Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a speech and language pathologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Serve as a resource to school staff members in the development of a balanced program for oral communication and speech improvement. 2. Provide a therapeutic program to meet individual needs of students with speech language and hearing disabilities. 3. Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language impairments to SATs. 4. Provide a thorough assessment and diagnosis of speech, voice, hearing, and language impairments according to state eligibility criteria. 5. Provide screening to identify students with communication disabilities as required. 6. Assist in proper referrals of individuals to agencies and specialists in the community as appropriate through participation on SATs. 7. Provide appropriate individualized programs of therapy to meet individual students' needs. 8. Collaborate with classroom teachers and other school staff members to implement consultative model of service delivery. 9. Provide information, support, and communications to parents and families when appropriate. 10. Provide and participate in in-service education and serve as a consultant to teachers and school staff members on topics concerning speech improvement. 11. Keep thorough current records for the individual student receiving therapy or other school-provided speech services. 12. Maintain lists of referred, screened and eligible students, as well as a directory of outside agencies, consultants, specialists, and related services. 13. Compile case history data on those cases where additional family history, health history, early developmental history, and environmental history are deemed appropriate. 14. Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Special Education or Executive Director. 15. Implement programs of study for students as provided by state best practice manual Speech/Language Pathologist 16. Foster a classroom climate conducive to learning. 17. Utilize instructional management systems which increase student learning and maximizes time on task. 18. Monitor student progress towards learning outcomes. 19. Maintain and upgrade his/her professional skills. 20. Promote and maintain positive pupil-teacher-parent relationships. 21. Maintain professional work habits. 22. Apply effective schools research to enhance instructional activities. 23. Complete logs, summary sheets and other required documentation for Medicaid eligible students upon receipt of provider status.

Brooke County Salary Schedule Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Brooke County Board of Education Policy of Evaluation of Professional Personnel Salary based on experience and education level per CBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
