PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts speech and language screenings without interpretation, using screening protocols specified by the supervising speech-language pathologist. Provides direct therapy assistance identified by the supervising speech-language pathologist by following written therapy plans, individualized education programs, individual support plans or protocols developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist. Documents student progress toward meeting established objectives as stated in individualized education program without interpretation of the findings, and report this information to the supervising speech-language pathologist. Summarizes and records target behaviors during therapy sessions. Manages student behavior using established and appropriate behavioral management techniques. Organizes and manages student data and maintains appropriate data. Assists with the informal documentation during an intervention session by collecting and tallying data as directed by the speech-language pathologist, preparing materials and assisting with other clerical duties as specified by the supervising speech-language pathologist. Schedules activities and prepare charts, records, graphs or other displays of data. Performs routine check-up and maintenance of equipment. Signs and initials therapy notes for review and co-signature by the supervising speech-language pathologist. Unless required by law, does not disclose clinical or confidential information orally or in writing to anyone not designated by the speech-language pathologist. Performs related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of applied speech and language therapy techniques and related methods. Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and perform mathematical calculations. Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook and with specialized computer-based equipment and software. Knowledge of all basic first aid methods, including CPR. Knowledge of specialized equipment used in the aid of children with special communication needs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations. Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members. Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders/Speech and Language from an accredited college/university. Must maintain a valid Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license issued by the Arizona Department of Health Services Current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification AZ Driver's License Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Indoors, and outdoor environment, in all types of weather. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with students, staff and the public. •Internal candidates must submit a request for transfer form signed by your site administrator within 5 working days of the posting date. •$20.02/hour - 9 Month position - 40 hours/week Employees hired into this position are required to submit a copy of their social security card to the department of Exceptional Student Services in order to bill Medicaid.
