Desert Speech welcomes you to apply for our open Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) position at our location in Rancho Mirage, CA!

What is an SLPA? A Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) is a licensed professional who plays a vital role in supporting the treatment of individuals with speech and language disorders. Working under the guidance of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP), the SLPA implements treatment plans and engages in various therapeutic activities to help clients improve their communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide therapy sessions to improve speech articulation, language comprehension, fluency, and voice quality.
  • Implement and adhere to treatment plans and procedures established by the supervising SLP.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, such as doctors and educators, to coordinate patient care and treatment plans.
  • Monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on strategies to improve communication skills and manage speech disorders.
  • Conduct speech-language screenings using age-appropriate protocols provided by the supervising SLP.
  • Assist in preparing formal documentation, such as materials, charts, records, graphs, and data.
  • Maintain and perform checks on equipment, including but not limited to augmentative communication devices.
Qualifications:
  • Valid California SLPA license
  • Bachelor's degree or 2-year SLPA program degree from an accredited institution
Skills:
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals

Desert Speech provides comprehensive speech therapy in Rancho Mirage, California. Speech-language pathologist Oksana DerDerian, MS, CCC-SLP, and the team take a personalized approach to care, keeping patients and their families well-informed about their treatment and progress. The team at Desert Speech LLC provides speech therapy for people of all ages, from infants to older adults. Focuses include early childhood language development, learning readiness, and social-emotional development. Clinicians employ myofunctional techniques to re-educate oral and facial muscles to improve speaking, as well as offer augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) tools, teaching patients to communicate in ways other than talking.
