Elementary Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Full-Time, 10-Month position
Reports To:
Licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) The Speech and Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) at Rowlett Academy supports the delivery of speech and language services to students under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. This role focuses on implementing treatment plans, documenting student progress, and helping students improve communication skills to succeed academically and socially. Key Responsibilities Assist the supervising SLP in implementing individualized treatment plans for students with speech and language disorders Conduct therapy sessions (individual and small group) as directed by the SLP Prepare therapy materials and activities tailored to student needs Collect and document data on student performance and progress toward goals Maintain accurate and timely records in compliance with school and regulatory requirements Support classroom integration of speech and language strategies Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to reinforce therapy goals Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with FERPA and HIPAA guidelines Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities Qualifications Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology Assisting or related field Valid SLPA license/certification (as required by state regulations) Experience working with children in an educational or clinical setting preferred Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to follow detailed instructions and work under supervision Have or acquire two-day training in Preferred Skills Familiarity with IEP processes and school-based therapy services Experience with AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) tools Ability to engage and motivate students with diverse learning needs Work Environment School-based setting with students of varying ages and abilities Collaborative, team-oriented environment May require light physical activity (e.g., assisting students, moving materials) Work Environment Elementary school setting Therapy provided in classrooms or designated therapy spaces Regular collaboration with teachers, families, and student support teams School Culture & Professional Responsibilities Promote and uphold the mission and values of Rowlett Academy Model professionalism, integrity, and high ethical standards Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school initiatives Support school events, activities, and community engagement efforts Engage in continuous professional learning Perform other duties as assigned to support the mission and goals of Rowlett Academy Physical Requirements Ability to stand and move throughout the classroom for extended periods Ability to move from building to building on the campus Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally Ability to speak and hear clearly for communication Ability to use both gross and fine motor skills for use with instructional materials Ability to supervise students in classroom, playground, and school settings Benefits Competitive Salary Referendum Bonus Participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) Rich medical health insurance benefits with strong employer contribution One year's salary equivalent in free life insurance Paid Teladoc membership for employee and household Voluntary benefits including disability, supplemental life, hospitalization, accident, critical illness insurance, and retirement investment options
Pay:
$21.92 - $24.91 per hour
