We are seeking a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to join our team at Talkative Tallahassee, LLC in Tallahassee, FL. This is a full-time contract position for a high school in Leon County Schools.
Job Duties:
Provide therapy under supervision: Deliver individual or group therapy sessions to students under the supervision and guidance of the SLP. Follow the treatment plan and implement appropriate therapeutic activities. Support data collection and progress monitoring: Assist in collecting and documenting data on student progress during therapy sessions. Keep records of therapy activities and student responses for progress monitoring.
Assist with materials preparation:
Prepare therapy materials, resources, and equipment needed for therapy sessions. Organize and maintain materials to ensure a well-equipped therapy environment.
Collaborate with teachers and staff:
Work collaboratively with teachers and other school personnel to support the integration of speech and language goals into the classroom environment. Provide guidance on strategies to facilitate communication and language development.
Implement individualized treatment plans:
Support the implementation of individualized treatment plans developed by the SLP. Carry out therapy techniques, exercises, and activities as directed to address students' speech and language goals.
Assist with communication skills development:
Help students develop and improve their speech sounds, language comprehension, expressive language skills, fluency, and social communication abilities.
Foster student engagement and participation:
Encourage active engagement and participation of students during therapy sessions. Use motivating and age-appropriate materials and activities to enhance student involvement. Provide support during assessments and IEP meetings: Assist the SLP in administering assessments, recording data, and compiling assessment reports. Attend Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and contribute insights regarding student progress and needs.
Follow ethical and legal guidelines:
Adhere to ethical standards and professional guidelines in speech-language pathology practice. Maintain student confidentiality and privacy. Comply with all applicable laws and regulations related to the role.
Collaborate with parents and caregivers:
Communicate and collaborate with parents or caregivers to provide information, strategies, and resources to support speech and language development at home. Encourage family involvement in therapy goals and progress.
Maintain documentation and records:
Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of therapy sessions, progress reports, and other necessary documentation as required by the school or district. Assist SLP as needed with administrative tasks (e.g., scheduling meetings, sending home meeting notices, etc.).
Experience and Qualifications:
Minimum of 1 year experience providing academically-relevant speech and language therapy services. Valid and current license to practice speech-language pathology as an assistant in Florida.
Pay:
$30.00 - $35.00 per hour
