Qualifications:
Minimum High School diploma or equivalent or Bachelor degree in Speech Pathology or a related field of study that provides equivalent knowledge and skills. Experience working with children and youth. Personal communication skills that demonstrate good speech and language function. Must have collaboration skills and the ability to learn new skills and willingness to perform a variety of tasks. Possess skills to plan and work with a high degree of ingenuity, initiative, independent judgment and flexibility Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing. Excellent organizational skills. Driver's license and personal vehicle required.
General Summary:
Collaborate and partner with a Speech Language Pathologist to provide services and supports to students.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Set up the computer and microphone and ensure all technologies are working for the teletherapy sessions. Ensure the safety of the child/student during teletherapy sessions and escorting children to and from sessions. Positioning the child/student at the direction of the SLP. Remaining with the child/student during sessions. Assisting with behavior management as needed. Work with the SLP in assembling and preparing instructional materials relevant to therapy or teletherapy Ability to communicate with students and educators. Skilled with different technologies. Ability to work collaboratively with SLPs, teachers, and other professionals. Ability to manage student behavior. Carry out individual programs developed by the Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, schools and staff members. Communicating with on-site staff or teachers about scheduling. Document and maintain student progress records Communicate and plan with SLP File reports in student folders Conduct skill-building activities with students Conduct classroom observation (from SLP prepared checklist) Know and understand goals for each student for whom they have responsibility Work with SLP to schedule students for therapy Keep supervision SLP informed regarding student progress Attend SLP discipline meetings/in-services Attend staffings of students with whom they work Maintain confidentiality with regard to student records and information Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
Regular attendance is required. Ability to travel within assigned schools Ability to work flexible hours, including minimal evenings and weekends Requires good eye/hand/finger coordination to keyboard and to operate office machines. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Good concentration and visual skills required. Normal, routine levels of activity related to bending, carrying, hearing, lifting, reaching, sitting, standing, vision and walking and may also involve above-average levels of activity at times that can't always be anticipated. Amend or adjust school year calendar to meet the need for extended school year services.
