Job Description

Category Schools - SLPA Job Type Contract Make a direct, lasting impact supporting students with Autism Spectrum Disorders or other learning differences in a high school setting. This contract opportunity is ideal for a dedicated Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA) or SLP-CF ready to help adolescents develop functional skills for independence in a specialized educational environment. Work primarily at a high school in the Lower Pioneer Valley region, supporting the Compass High Program—a unique learning community tailored to each student's needs.
Key Qualifications and Experience:
Holds active state licensure to practice as an SLPA or SLP-CF with all required credentials maintained throughout the assignment. Strong, hands-on experience using Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices in educational settings. Background working with high school students, preferably those with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) or similar learning profiles. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized, strengths-based communication plans. Skilled in documentation and tracking student progress toward IEP goals.
Role Overview:
Provide direct speech-language therapy services to high school students enrolled in a specialized support program. Use AAC and adaptive tools to facilitate communication skill development. Support individualized educational plans (IEPs) in partnership with teachers, occupational therapists, and behavioral specialists. Maintain thorough records, participate in team meetings, and contribute to ongoing student assessments. Foster a positive, proactive environment that helps each student build skills for greater independence and future success.
