Immediately Job Description The Speech & Language Pathology Assistant conducts a variety of tasks relating to speech language pathology under the supervision of the Speech Therapist. The Speech & Language Pathology Assistant is responsible for the supervision of all students within their assignment, is committed to the Atlantis Charter School Board of Trustee's policies regarding equity, human rights and cross cultural understanding and reports directly to the Director of Student Services or their designee Atlantis Charter School is committed to recruiting, employing, training, promoting and compensating a diverse team. QUALIFICATIONS
Associates Degree required. Speech Pathology Assistant License Issued by the MA Speech Language Pathology-Audiology Licensing Board required. Previous experience preferred. Experience with related technology preferred. Strong communication skills, both written and spoken. Ability to relate well to others.
REPORTS TO
Special Education Director, and works under license of Speech Therapist who provides supervision in accordance with ASHA guidelines and MA Speech Language Pathology-Audiology Licensing Board.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
While actual roles and responsibilities will vary depending on individual circumstances, the Speech & Language Pathology Assistant will generally be required to perform some or all of the following tasks. Note that this list is not all-inclusive and that the administrator may also assign other tasks they deem appropriate. Primary Roles and Responsibilities Assists speech language and hearing screenings (without interpretation); Assists with informal documentation as directed by the Speech Therapist; Follows documented treatment plans or protocols developed by the supervising Speech Therapist; Documents student performance (e.g. tallying data for the Speech Therapist to use; preparing charts, records, and graphs) and reports this information to the supervising Speech Therapist; Assists the Speech Therapist during assessment of students; Assists with clerical duties such as preparing materials and scheduling activities as directed by the Speech Therapist; Performs checks and maintenance of equipment; Supports the supervising Speech Therapist in research projects, in-service training, and public relations programs; Assists with departmental operations (scheduling, record keeping, safety/maintenance of supplies and equipment); Collects data for monitoring quality improvement; Exhibits compliance with regulations, reimbursement requirements, and Speech Therapist Assistant's job responsibilities; Works cooperatively with classroom teacher in scheduling students for services; Supportive Roles and Responsibilities Assists the Speech Therapist in developing, maintaining and submitting daily long-range therapy plans; Assists the Speech Therapist to effectively manage each group of students while providing for a variety of learning styles and ability levels; Monitors student learning continuously and makes appropriate modifications to meet student needs; Assists the Speech Therapist in integrating technology to enhance student progress; Assists the Speech Therapist in using a variety of assessment strategies to accurately evaluate student progress; Assists the Speech Therapist in effectively using all approved speech language therapy programs; Assists the Speech Therapist, as well as independently provides, an environment conducive to learning; Promotes problem solving, cooperation and conflict resolution strategies through guidance or instruction in order to develop healthy self-esteem in students; Assists in developing and implementing appropriate behavior management strategies that result in a productive, interesting, respectful and safe classroom environment; Assists in applying appropriate consequences for inappropriate student behaviors; Takes direction in instruction from the Speech Therapist; Assists the Speech Therapist in identifying students eligible for services; Additional Requirements Maintains records as required by Atlantis Charter School or Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education using prescribed formats; Attends professional development and staff meetings on scheduled days; Attends parent-teacher conferences and open house as appropriate; Follows school-wide classroom protocols and school rituals; Maintains web page and establishes effective communication with parents; Performs other duties as assigned; Cultural Standards Establishes and maintains cooperative and effective working relationships with all members of school community to carry out responsibilities; Interacts professionally with a diverse range of constituents; Maintains an attendance record that meets or exceeds an acceptable standard as defined by ACS policy. Takes responsibility and accountability for assigned tasks, projects, and duties while maintaining a professional manner. Makes efficient use of time by organizing and prioritizing work efficiently. Presents a professional appearance by adhering to ACS dress code. Is actively engaged in job/career growth by attending inservice programs, professional development, educational courses and seminars. Actively listens and responds in a respectful non-confrontational manner to the opinions of others. Fosters positive attitude in the workplace. Maintains and respects strict confidentiality of any sensitive information related to Atlantis Charter School, its faculty, staff and students.
