Speech/Language Pathology Assistant Objective:
The Speech/Language Pathology Assistant is responsible for providing prevention and remediation services for students who exhibit difficulties in the areas of language, speech, voice, and fluency. These services are designed to help children meet their educational goals. This position also requires ongoing parent contact and collaboration with general education and/or therapeutic staff.Responsibilities:
Design and carry out developmentally appropriate, motivating speech curriculum/programming as warranted by IEP goals / MA curriculum frameworks/ MA Common Core Standards. Provide direct individual and/or group instruction. Attend IEP meetings as requested by Speech/Language Pathologist supervisor. Provide trans-disciplinary programming through consultation with teachers, speech/language, and other therapeutic staff. Consult with classroom staff in implementing goals of all students. Collect, analyze and maintain data on all students within the classroom. Provide assistance and/or consultation in feeding skills if necessary. Initiate and support the use of assistive technology to provide access. Daily maintenance of supplies, equipment, and departmental space. Organize daily schedule to meet caseload requirements and uses indirect time appropriately. Consult with staff in other discipline areas to improve programming. Facilitate ongoing parent contact and encourage family involvement in conjunction with Speech/Language Pathologist supervisor. Develop appropriate individual IEP consistent with training in a timely way. Responsible for maintaining licensure and meeting professional development requirements for licensure.Qualifications:
Minimum of bachelor's degree in speech/language therapy or related subject. Licensed as Speech/Language Pathology Assistant MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as Speech/Language Pathology Assistant Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the provision of special education and the special education process.Terms of Employment:
